Equipment required for the course of study such as stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, splinting devices and spinal boards will be provided by the school at no cost to the student. All equipment is property of the school and should never be taken off campus. Course will also provide access to multiple ambulance companies in order to obtain the required clinical hours for the course.

The required text, "AAOS Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured 12th Edition", by Jones & Bartlett. The book fee is separate, you will be expected to buy the book materials yourself. You will be provided a link to get the E-book at a special pricing, on your first day of attendance (CPR/Enrollment Day). Access to the necessary documents, "Jones & Bartlett Learning Navigate Online-Essentials" and "The Los Angeles County Skills Training Documents" will also be provided.

Students will complete 7 mandatory in-person sessions designed to keep them on track throughout the course process. They will also complete 4 in-person skills-day reviews. We ask that on days where attendance in-person is required, to dress in appropriate clothing that allows you to perform the movements required for the skill days. Skills Review days requires appropriate shoes (no Sandals, open toes, or loose-fitting shoes) and a watch with the ability to count seconds.

Your online coursework and live classroom sessions work closely together. This is a paced online course with live on-line lectures and in-class skills days. You are expected to complete your online assignments and attend the weekly on-line live class sessions to learn and review the didactic material.
The on-line live class session will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm-10pm and will be presented through the platform GoToTraining. These are mandatory meetings. Your program course schedule is provided for you in your dashboard after registration.

Internet Connectivity & Technical Responsibility Policy

Students participating in any online, hybrid, remote, or virtual course activity are responsible for maintaining a reliable and stable internet connection for the entire duration of all required lectures, reviews, examinations, meetings, and other scheduled course activities.

CIEMT is not responsible for internet outages, power outages, equipment failures, weather events, natural disasters, service interruptions, or other circumstances beyond CIEMT’s control.
Students are expected to have access to reliable Wi-Fi or wired internet connection. A cellular phone hotspot should not be relied upon as the student’s primary internet connection for required course attendance or quiz taking.

If a student experiences an internet, power, equipment, or connectivity issue, it is the student’s responsibility to notify CIEMT immediately and locate an alternative reliable internet connection before the next required class or course activity.

ACCEPTABLE EXCUSES ARE LIMITED

Technical issues do not automatically excuse missed virtual attendance, late arrival, early departure, missed examinations, or failure to complete required course activities.
Requests for an exception, for missing a virtual attendance, late arrival, early departure, missed examinations, or failure to complete required course activities. will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis based on the student’s individual circumstances and demonstrated need. CIEMT may require reasonable verifiable documentation. Providing documentation does not automatically guarantee approval of an exception.

Any exception granted applies only to that specific student and circumstance and does not establish a precedent for future situations.

The student’s signed CIEMT Enrollment Agreement remains in full force and effect. This policy supplements the Enrollment Agreement and does not replace, waive, modify, or override any attendance, academic, participation, or course requirements contained within it.
Enrollment in a CIEMT online or hybrid course constitutes acknowledgment and acceptance of these technology and connectivity requirements.

The full course cost is required to be paid in to CIEMT in full no later than the beginning of the first day of course instruction. The minimum required registration fee ($250.00) must be paid upon registration. The registration fee is nonrefundable if you drop the course within 10 working days of the start date of the course.

Please note: The AHA BLS course is a State prerequisite for the EMT program and is not included in the cost of the course. It is offered on the first day at a discounted rate of $40 for our students only. (If the BLS course is required at any other time the full rate for the BLS course will apply.)
