This is a paced online course with live on-line lectures and in-class skills days. About course
✓ The on-line live class session will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm-10pm and will be presented through the platform GoToTraining. These are mandatory meetings. Your program course schedule is provided for you in your dashboard after registration.
✓ Skills session will re- enforce course material and teach the hands-on portion of EMT work. The Skills session will take place every other Thursday of the 8-week course, in-class at the CIEMT Long Beach/Signal Hill CA campus from 4pm-11pm. They will include - Session 1 of the program, Rules/Enrollment and an AHA BLS course. Skills Day 1, 2, 3. Skills Review Day and Final Written Exam/Skills Final Day. The 6 (six) in-class sessions are mandatory.
✓ Please note: The AHA BLS course is a State prerequisite for the EMT program and is not included in the cost of the course. It is offered on the first day at a discounted rate of $40 for our students only. (If the BLS course is required at any other time the full rate for the BLS course will apply.)
✓ In addition, you are required, per the State of California, to complete 24 hours of clinical training and have 10 patient contacts. The clinical training will be done with one of the ambulance companies that has signed an affiliation agreement with CIEMT. We have multiple locations and companies for you to choose from. You will be doing this on your own time and must be completed by the end of the program.

This hybrid course is designed to give students the necessary skills and knowledge to function as a working Emergency Medical Technician at the basic level, and to facilitate the passing of the National Registry Exam. This course is a part of the Basic EMT program, a program is intended for those who want to gain employment as a firefighter, emergency care technician at a hospital and Ambulance driver or attendant. It is also for those individuals who are planning on attempting to obtain a higher level of medical training such as RN, PA or MD as an enhancement for the competitive application process for those professions. The structure of his hybrid course consists of mostly online course work with 6 in-classroom sessions (for practical skill training, practical skill testing, and final written testing) and 4 mandatory skills days, to keep the students on track. Online live meetings with actual faculty weekly for guidance and a Q & A session will also be included.

Equipment required for the course of study such as stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, splinting devices and spinal boards will be provided by the school at no cost to the student. All equipment is property of the school and should never be taken off campus. Course will also provide access to multiple ambulance companies in order to obtain the required clinical hours for the course.

The book fee is separate, you will be expected to buy the book materials yourself. Students will complete 6 mandatory in-person sessions designed to keep them on track throughout the course process. They will also complete 4 in-person skills-day reviews. We ask that on days where attendance in-person is required, to dress in appropriate clothing that allows you to perform the movements required for the skill days. Skills Review days requires appropriate shoes (no Sandals, open toes, or loose-fitting shoes) and a watch with the ability to count seconds.
