Online EMT Preparation Course Introduction
An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Course can contain an overwhelming amount of material, often covered in a short period of time. This can be especially challenging if you have never studied the human body or if it has been several years since you have been a student. Because we want our students to succeed in any EMT course they pursue, we have custom designed this EMT Preparation course. Furthermore, to make it as convenient as possible, and fit your schedule, we have made it available as an online class.
This EMT Preparation course will introduce you to the medical terminology used in most EMT programs, along topics from the human body. We will spend time studying the cardiovascular, respiratory and nervous systems, along with touching on areas from other human body systems and human physiology.
In this online course, we will be using the first few chapters of one of the most popular EMT textbooks, the AAOS Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured, 11th edition. You will be assigned reading and complete interactive lectures, as well as do practice quizzes covering the required material.
You will also join course Faculty members in our eClassroom, for live presentations and discussions from the convenience of your own computer or laptop. These 1 – 1 1/2 hour sessions are an opportunity to review the most difficult concepts from each section as well as ask questions of your instructors. These live interactions are unique to our online programming and is important for you, the student, to feel connected to our teachers and the courses you take.
All you will need for this course, besides the custom eTextbook, is a modern computer (PC or MAC) along with a reliable internet connection and web-browser. A headset with microphone is required for the online classroom, web-cameras are optional. The cost of the eTextbook is included in the cost of the course.
We hope by taking this course and being exposed to these topics prior to an actual EMT class, you will begin on the right footing and be more successful throughout your high-stakes EMT training.
